Admissions and Appeals

The process of applying for a place at St Michael’s School varies according to whether you require a reception place (for a child starting school in September) or are applying for a place when your child is already attending another school.

As a Church of England school, the governing body determines the admission arrangements and decides which applicants are offered a place in accordance with its published criteria.

The school's admissions arrangements for 2025-26 have now been determined and can be viewed here (follow link). If you believe that the determined admissions policy is not lawful, you have the right to lodge a formal objection, which can be done via the Office of the Schools Adjudicator (follow link) before 15th May 2024:

Appeals

If you wish to appeal against an admissions decision, there is a formal process and timetable - key dates are:

16th April 2024 - Primary (Reception Class) offers made

14th May 2024 - Deadline for lodging an appeal

June/July 2024 - Appeal hearings

Applying for a Reception Place

Applications for a reception place in all Lewisham primary schools are co-ordinated through Lewisham Local Authority and should be made online (to make an online application, follow this link). Online applications may be made from September in the year before your child will start school. All applications must be completed and received by the Lewisham School Admissions Team by 15th January 2024.

Please note that Supplementary Admissions Forms are NOT required at this school.


Applying for an In-Year Place

To apply for a place at the school in Years 1-6 or Reception 2023-24 entry, you will need to complete on-line Lewisham's In-year Common Application Form (icaf) which can be accessed at the Borough's website click here for link.   The school will also support you with the application process.
