coffee anyone?

On Tuesday 1st February, we held a virtual coffee morning which was open to all the parents and carers of St Michael’s school. It was a chance to say hello and an opportunity to share the vision and direction of the school, as well as a cup of coffee.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined – it is amazing that we still had the opportunity to meet in a virtual setting.

We discussed the vision of the school and what it meant for the children. Our vision for the children is to have an abundance of experiences which will lead them to want to excel, to grow and develop to be the best they can be. The abundance speaks of experiences -not possessions.

Launched on Martin Luther King Day, the 15th January, we shared the vision of abundance with the children, encouraging them to ‘dream big dreams.’ It is important for the children to realise that even at a young age, they are able to have big dreams and goals for their right now and their future.

We have a wealth of amazing parents who we would love to have come into school to support the children – as soon as restrictions easing will allow it.

Do you have availability to listen to readers, to help with times tables testing, can you help on a school trip? Do you have ability to play a musical instrument and possibly teach children to mplay an instrument in an after school club?

There are so many ways that your help would be invaluable, please let us know how you would like to get involved.

We also heard about the great work that our PTA, called friends of St Michael’s, has done in the past. They have been amazing at raising funds for the school and supporting from school trips, gifts for our Year 6 leavers to the Astro turf on the junior site.

Tilie gave information about how to join the PTA and a breakdown of the different ways you could support. If you require further information, please email the dedicated email address for the PTA – stmichaelsfriends@gmail.com

Once again, thank you to everyone who took the time to share a cup of coffee with us. The shout out for the most decorative mug goes to Ms Glover. Her Tardis mug was a representation of how she sees St Michael’s. In her own words, “I chose this cup as I felt it was a good visual interpretation of our school because like a Tardis, whilst we may appear small on the outside we are a lot bigger on the inside with the love that we have to give.”

See you at the next coffee morning, which I really do hope will not be virtual and will also include Danish pastries.
