Hello and welcome back to a new St Michael’s year. For the parents and carers of our Nursery and Reception children and new joiners in other year groups, welcome to the St Michael’s family. We know your child will be happy here.
The children got straight into the swing of things – it’s almost as if they had not been away.
Across the year groups there has been reading, building, sharing, teamwork and fun.
We started with our first collective worship looking at some highlights from the Olympic Games and thinking about the different types of team we are part of. We talked about what makes a successful team using the Olympic and Paralympic values. We will continually strive to incorporate these values into our school life – we will play and work like Olympians.
Respect: fair play; knowing one’s own limits; taking care of one’s health and the environment
Excellence: how to give the best of oneself, on the field of play or in life; taking part and progressing according to one’s own objectives
Friendship: how through sport to understand each other despite any differences.
The Paralympics lift the clouds of limitation and as well as having the Olympic values, also uses the goals of courage, determination, inspiration and equality.
On the theme of sports, we are pleased to have two sports coaches working with our school this year.
