We are very aware that the impact of remote learning can have a huge effect on children and their mental health. This week was Children’s Mental Health Week in conjunction with Place2Be. The theme this year, ‘Express Yourself.’
Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good
We encouraged the children at school to think about the day ahead with a positive mindset. Why not try this activity at the start of your day.
In all that we are doing, family life and physical and mental well-being and life in general should also be a priority during a national/global pandemic! To support this week and in an effort to continually support the children to maintain good mental health, we have introduced ‘Well-being Wednesday’. We are encouraging the children on a Wednesday, after their RE lesson, to switch off their screens and do something they enjoy such as drawing, playing a board game or going for some exercise.
Here are some of our children enjoying some ‘well-being activities. Please share with us what you do to express yourself. You can post items on your ClassDojo or send an email to schoolmail@stmichaels.lewisham.sch.uk.
We look forward to seeing your expressions!
Learning how to be patient, resilient, adapting and excising her thought process
Please keep sending your pictures and videos. In times like these, it is important to share how we can express ourselves and promote healthy minds.
