PRIVATE PEACEFUL

The National Curriculum requires children to

plan their writing by:
 identifying the audience for and purpose of the writing, selecting the appropriate form and using other similar writing as models for their own
 noting and developing initial ideas, drawing on reading and research where necessary

draft and write by:
 selecting appropriate grammar and vocabulary, understanding how such choices can change and enhance meaning
 in narratives, describing settings, characters and atmosphere and integrating dialogue to convey character and advance the action

Y6 are using ‘Private Peaceful‘ as their Literacy text this term and have been exploring it in various ways. Private Peaceful, which is set in WWI, also ties in well with their history topic for this term. Here they are in action.

Characterisation:

Reading and jotting ideas as they go along.

More exploration of character traits and relationships using thoughts and feelings

Completed thoughts and feelings

More research on individual characters

Watch this space – amazing writing to follow.
