We precisely measured several children’s femurs as part of our investigation into the question: “Does femur length affect how far people can jump?” In designing the investigation, we carefully considered how to ensure fairness and consistency. We decided to control key variables, such as using the same starting point, performing the jumps on the same surface, and having the same individual record the measurements. The only variable we altered was the length of the femur. After completing the jumps, we recorded our results for further analysis.
