Last half term, selected students from St Michael’s had the opportunity to attend a ballet performance of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland at the world famous Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
As part of the Opera House’s Schools Matinees programme, 30 children from years 3 to 6 were able to see world class dancers perform to a special audience of children from across the country.
Before the show began, we were able to have lunch in the light filled Paul Hamlyn hall before entering the theatre for the main event.
We took our seats and had the chance to admire the beautiful auditorium, which is more than 150 years old.
The performance lasted three hours, with two intervals, and kept the children gripped throughout. After repeated standing ovations and a cacophony of cheers, we left having watched an outstanding ballet, enjoyed by all!
