St. Michael’s has been longing for a quiet space for the children to dive into a good book and to inspire reading for pleasure across the school. It has been a dream to have a library and that dream has recently come true. Over the past year, St Michael’s reached out to ABC book club which is a charity that takes donations of high quality pre-loved children’s books from members of the general public and re-donates them to primary school libraries. They also create brand new libraries in schools so that children have somewhere exciting and comfortable they can read. Before we knew it, we were contacted by the founder Jo Chandler and a new library was in the works!
First we had to choose the right space to transform.
The children of St. Michael’s worked very hard to help fundraise for new carpet.
The children were presented with a range of different themes to choose from. They each got their individual vote and soon it had been chosen. Under the Sea it was!!!
On Tuesday, 9th July our library was ready to be revealed to the school. We had a wonderful morning with many visitors from all over who had kindly supported ABC Book Club in order to make our new library happen. We had a special ribbon cutting and everyone was able to visit our new library. The children of St. Michael’s have never been more excited.
Thank you to Jo Chandler and ABC Book Club for this extraordinary gift!
