As part of our Science topic, Living things and their habitats, Year 4 visited Dacres Wood Nature Reserve. It is an amazing local environment with a huge range of plants, invertebrate and vertebrate species and a magnificent pond. We used the pond dipping platform and large nets to search the deep pond waters for creatures and found blood worms, water fleas, a newt, a tadpole, a water boatman and a dragonfly larva. We also searched the surrounding woodland for different plant species and looked under logs and undergrowth for insects and signs of hedgehog life. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and finished our day with a picnic and play in Mayow Park.
