Year 4 have really enjoyed reading Varjak Paw by SF Said. We are just about to finish the final chapters.
One of the major events in this story are the ‘Vanishings’. This is the name given to the mysterious disappearance of cats from the city. Children were challenged to write a newspaper report about this and they had to interview characters from the story to put together facts and theories about why these ‘Vanishings’ are happening. They had to also get to grips with using the perfect tense when writing and using direct and reported speech. They proved to be excellent journalists.
