As part of our focus story, Jack and the Beanstalk, the children in Reception have been exploring planting and growing!
Following instructions to plant a bean seed…
The children have been able to grow their own bean plants. They did an amazing job of watching closely and listening carefully when following instructions. This allowed them to not only build and develop these skills, but they also learnt lots of new vocabulary and were able to retell the instructions on how to plant a bean seed!
First, put in the soil…
Next, put in the seed…
After that, cover the seed with more soil…
Finally, water it!
Beanstalk printing…
Whilst waiting patiently for their bean plants to grow, the children explored their creative skills by printing their own beanstalks using different skills, techniques and materials. They used kitchen roll tubes to print on the beanstalk leaves, and we think they did a fantastic job…
And our art gallery looks amazing!…
With love and care…
Over the last couple of weeks, the children have really enjoyed observing their plants and talking about the changes that they notice!
They did an exceptional job intaking care of their plants… just look how much they have grown! The children will be able to take them home at the end of the week so they can continue to care for them and watch as they grow some tasty beans!
Genesis 1:11-12: Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good.
