On Friday 8th March, St Michael’s celebrated World Book Day. World Book Day began in the UK and Ireland in 1997. It is a special day to celebrate reading for pleasure; a day in which people all over the world might share stories, pretend to be their favourite book character and even dress up as them. Here at St Michael’s, we always love an opportunity to dress up!
This year, each class learnt a class poem to perform. The children worked very hard to learn the words, add actions and stand up in front of the whole school.
The teachers enjoy dressing up too!
The fun didn’t stop there. Acorn Book Club kindly donated a variety of different books so that each child at St. Michael’s could choose their own to take home. The smiles on their faces says it all. Thank you ABC Books, we can not wait for our library!
Happy World Book Day to all!
