During our visit to PGL in Marchant’s Hill, one of our favourite activities was being around a campfire. The children were able to see how the fire was started and what required to keep it burning. Despite the dark and the cold, the children had a wonderful time: they listened to stories, sang campfire songs and toasted (and ate) marshmallows. In school, the children wrote poems about the journey of the fire; they used personification, similes and metaphors to create vivid images through their writing.
