St Michael’s warmly welcomed back an ex – pupil, Jenelle Grant, to collective worship today as part of our aspirational discussions – My Future is Bright I Must Wear Shades. She shared her life journey and what a journey she has had so far!
Starting at St Michael’s from Reception class, Jenelle talked to the children about her enthusiasm to try all the opportunities that came her way both in school as well as outside of school. Jenelle auditioned for the school choir, took part in swimming galas and represented the school in football and basketball.
The children heard about Jenelle gaining a full scholarship to university in the USA to play basketball, a sport she found a passion for whilst at St Michaels. Jenelle also went on to study finance and her achievements in sport saw her representing England and Great Britain in various nations! Jenelle has continued to work within the field of sport; she currently works for the NBA.
At St Michael’s, we continually talk to the children about the ows, wows and nows of life; Jenelle’s talk also shared some she has faced. She discussed her fractured ankle to returning even stronger after injury and winning further trophies.
The children were excited to ask Jenelle questions as well as get up close to the trophy! Interestingly, the house point winners for last week, announced today, were Wright House – Jenelle represented Wright House at St Michael’s!
A big thank you to Jenelle for visiting us today – the children really enjoyed your time with us. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
