In Reception, one of the Early Learning Goals is for children to know more about communities and people who help us. Through role play opportunities and fun activities, the children are learning that there are lots of people who help us in our day-to-day lives. Some of these people help us in emergencies, like firefighters, police and doctors and nurses. If there is an emergency, we want the children to know how to get in touch with the right person to help. Other people help us to stay safe and healthy, like opticians, dentists and refuse collectors.
Anybody can do a job that helps other people if they have been trained properly – we are looking forward to be hearing what our Reception children want to do when they grow up!
