At St Michael’s we have introduced a new sport to our PE curriculum and the children are absolutely loving it! The sport is Lacrosse – it is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and lacrosse ball. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into a goal. The sport originated in North America – it is a tribal game played by the indigenous people of North America.
The game does not allow body contact, so we thought it would be a perfect sport to introduce during the pandemic!
Two hands on the stick at all times! I can do this! Throwing and catching! Learning how to cradle the ball. Moving without dropping the ball! Scooping up the ball. Which team will scoop up the most balls? Victors! Winners!
