Year 4 have been studying electricity this term. We started by identifying sources of electricity which are renewable such as solar power and wind power and non renewable such as fossil fuels. We then investigated circuits which will or will not allow electricity to flow through them and make a bulb light up.
It was a delight to watch them discover the circuit with the correct connections and without any gaps which lit their light bulb.
After this, we used our circuits to test a range of materials to see if they were conductors or insulators. Conductors allow electricity to pass through them so the bulb in the circuit would still light up. We found out that aluminium, cupronikel (or copper-nickel) and steel were conductors and materials such as glass, wool and rubber were insulators.
As you can see, we had lots of fun!
