At St Michael’s we have a ‘buddy’ system in place. As we are a split site school, the established buddy system is one of the ways we maintain our feel of ‘one school on two sites’.
Over the first half term, our Year 6 children are ‘buddied up’ with one of the Reception children. Throughout the year, the children have special times together to help develop and establish these friendships that will last the year, or even beyond! Sometimes they read books, sometimes they play outside – always, they have a great time building friendships.
Wednesday 11th October saw our Buddy service, where we formally introduced the Year 6 buddies to Reception parents and the wider school. Each Year 6 buddy presented their new buddy with a book to keep and Deacon David spoke about the meaning of a buddy.
We learnt from that talk that ‘BUDDY’ does not mean ‘Bananas are Useless for Digging in the Dirt and they are Yellow’!
May the budding buddy relationships continue to grow!
