As our children start their school life at St Michael’s, we talk a great deal about ‘building good foundations.’ These good foundations mean that they grow and develop a strong foundation which allows them to dream big dreams and achieve their goals.
Good foundations also apply to us as a Church of England school where we discuss growing and developing on the foundation and teachings of Jesus.
Our collective worship at St Michael’s Church this week focused on what a temple is and our foundations. The children took part by sharing their knowledge of what makes a good foundation. As usual the children rose to the occasion and could clearly articulate their understanding.
Deacon David invited the children to build a tower to demonstrate the necessity of a firm foundation. One child built their tower on a Bible, the other on a comfy cushion.
Which one fell over first: the tower built on the Bible or the the tower built on the cushion?
Well done to our two volunteer builders.
1 Corinthians 3 verse 11 says, ‘For no one can lay any foundation other than the one that has been laid; that foundation is Jesus Christ.’
Thank you for the very clear illustration of having good foundations. May we build on those every day.
