Young Writers aims to encourage young people to engage in creative writing. They have worked with schools, parents and young writers since 1991 by running national poetry and creative writing competitions through schools as well as providing free resources to teachers to aid them in teaching young writers. This year, both Year 1 and 2 participated in the Poetry Safari competition where each child had to submit a poem on an animal of their choice. We had a variety of poems from riddle poems, senses poem or acrostic. Winners of the competition received a lovely certificate, a bookmark and will actually be published into the ‘Poetry Safari-Amazing Poets’ book. We are so delighted to announce that 27 poems from Year 1 and 15 poems from Year 2 have won and will be in the upcoming publication. We couldn’t be prouder of all the children and their hard work. Well done and we look forward to the book!
Congratulations to all these young writers.
