To mark the coronation of King Charles III which will be held on Saturday 6th May, St Michael’s received royalty from around the globe. We invited the children to come to school dressed as royalty from any culture – near and far. They represented their home countries and cultures or wore colours from the Union Jack – in fact any representation of a king or queen.
What a display it was!
We asked children what they would do if they were king for a day – here are a few of the responses.
I would talk to the guards and try to make them laugh. They are so serious!
I would do more to help people who are homeless – provide shelter.
Can you design and make a crown? Each class had a go and the winning entries are here
In the afternoon, we had a whole school outdoor tea party (substituting the tea for squash). It’s not an outdoor party without cake and biscuits too.
Each class had a chance to parade to say hello to the ‘crowds’.
Then of course a dance and an impromptu conga line.
What a right royal affair it was – and great fun had by all.
