In modern trying times, we have been astounded by the generosity and love shown by our school community. We teach the children continually about how they can make a positive difference in their class, our school, our community and our world. We encourage and celebrate the acts of kindness we see, from sharing a toy with a friend to giving time and/or resources in support of another person.
It is the small acts of kindness that can impact a life for years to come – not only for the one who receives, but also for the one who has given.
Since the beginning of this academic year, we have had themed and special days to raise awareness and funds for different causes. In all of these we have been amazed at the generosity of others, especially in the midst of a cost of living crisis. We know what this school community can do when they give, we have seen the evidence from Jeans for Genes, Children in Need and the outstanding Harvest donations. We know how much you have supported these fundraising drives.
Quite recently, we have been raising money for the Children’s Mental Health charity, Place2Be and as a school community we raised £127. Most recently, we raised money to support the Syria and Turkey Earthquake appeal. I am pleased to say that our St Michael’ school community raised an amazing £270.71 for this appeal.
Currently, we are raising funds for the Bishop of Southwark’s Lent Appeal by selling purple wristbands with an upcoming cake and cookie sale, a final total will be given at the end of the appeal.
As well as this, on Friday 17th March we will be joining the nationwide campaign to fundraise for Red Nose Day. Children are invited to wear red on that day and drop their donation in the buckets at the gate. Once again, thank you for helping us to be a giving school and encouraging our children to support those in need.
UPDATE
The amazing St Michael’s community raised £184.92.
Thank you
