Year 6 have been exploring algebra in maths. The National Curriculum states that children in Year six should be taught to: use simple formulae; express missing number problems algebraically; find pairs of numbers that satisfy an equation with 2 unknowns.
We looked at algebraic expressions and drew images to show what they represented.
The children practised writing algebraic expressions for images they were given. They worked very well with their maths partners to solve algebraic equations.
