Today is Safer Internet Day and the children have been exploring ways to stay safe online. It is also Children’s Mental Health Week and the two tie in very well together.
Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the day sees thousands of organisations get involved to promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
Increasingly, we are finding that children are communicating online, so it is very important that they understand how to communicate appropriately and safely; we will continue these conversations with the children. We have conducted an online safety questionnaire and the results will be shared with you soon.
One of the activities for the day was a game, ‘How well do you know me?’ The game explored various scenarios and gave three options for answering.
The children enjoyed this and had a chance to share their viewpoints.
Another way we are supporting online safety awareness is with the blog from National Online Safety; look out for the updates every Wednesday.
